sometimes i remember that one piece's main theme is laughter and i kinda choke up about it
the final island is called Laugh Tale, so many characters have unique laughs, Nami laughed freely for the first time in years in the company of others after faking it for so long, Genzo wore a pinwheel on his head because it was the only way baby Nami would laugh around him, Usopp saw a girl falling into depression after losing her parents and devoted a year to making up stories just to get her to laugh, Chopper and Robin were both finally given positive attention by someone and copied their laughs for a short while (Chopper's case an adoptive father, Robin's case her first friend outside of archeologists) Robin lost everything when her home burned down and she tried to desperately laugh the pain away but with the same laugh as Saul before he was frozen alive, Luffy kicks Crocodile's ass but not before demanding him to give Vivi back the country because if it was truly her country she would be laughing a lot more, there's a major war going on and everyone around luffy couldn't help but laugh and rally behind him just because he was being himself despite the environment, there was someone called Joyboy 800 years ago and he brought laughter where he went, the main character is so goofy and silly and laughter that even when he's trying to fight seriously he ends up doing goofy shit that makes you or the people around him burst into laughter, one of his main powerups later on derives on how much he laughs and you can't help but laugh at the silliness of it all
it's a comedy, but it has it's dark and serious and heavy moments but every time it reminds you to laugh and be free!! laughter is so important! a tale of laughs!
it's such an important and major theme through the series but it can be missed so easily, it's in your face but it's not
how many people luffy and the straw hats have saved by bringing their smiles back to their faces, to let them laugh to their hearts content
do you see, do you see

Also how the legend of the D. clan is that they all die with a smile on their face, because they know not even Death can break their Will.
it’s genuinely so sweet lowkey that zoro was the FIRST one back to saboady. and not just by a few hours but DAYS. baby said I’m gonna be number one for my captain in EVERY way (& the simple fact he would have floated to luffy in his cast if he had to, he couldn’t wait to be reunited)
I need help finding some MiShanks fan art! It's Shanks asking Mihawk to stay for a drink and the next panel is them in bed the morning after with Mihawk like 😳
I saw it a while ago but I can't find it now!
It’s crazy how popular this pic was when it dropped and how impossible it’s been to find since 😫
the kudos to hits ratio on AO3 is really discouraging.
some of the biggest, longest, and most well written fics I’ve ever read, and they only get 2-3% kudos of the hits they get. the worst I saw was 1.6% for a gorgeous work with 300K words and 130K hits.
I’m not asking for 100% kudos; some people just genuinely don’t like certain things. but it takes one click to let an author know you enjoyed their work.
Good works get repeat visits. I can only give kudos once, but I can reread a favorite fic dozens or even hundreds of times, and I have. And I'm not 100% certain, but I believe hitting each chapter counts as a hit, and again, that's a hit on every chapter every time you reread it.
I'm not saying that you aren't correct and that authors don't deserve more kudos, but this is something to keep in mind.
Right. This is why I leave a comment if I’m re-reading even if it’s just a silly little, “flings more kudos”.
But, ultimately, we can’t determine a fic’s value by its ratios.
If you love a fic, rec it. Add it to your bookmarks, put it on a rec list, subscribe to the author, etc.
And if you’re searching for fic to read, stop doing complex math to see if it’s worth it. Read the summary, check the tags, give the opening paragraphs a read.
Authors know the hit count may be hi and the kudos low. Most of us are posting for the love of the game. Reader participation is just a (delightfully rewarding) bonus!
This man is facing one of the Five Elders, presumably one of the strongest beings in existence in this world.
And as the Elder attacks, Luffy not only has the processing time to clock the attack, but also to react cartoonishly before taking any actual evasive measure.
We know how quickly the Elder can move, and how motivated he is to stop Luffy. He’s not letting Luffy willingly catch a break.
Luffy has to be so much faster than he used to be!
Swear I’m saying this every week at this point, but one of the best Dr. Stone episodes ever. The ED playing as Suika continued to work on the revival fluid and building structures for the materials just made me cry sm man. I didn’t appreciate these suika chapters enough when reading them.
I knew she was the MVP, but the anime did a great job of driving home just how utterly lonely and sad it is to be the only person in the world while the people you feel are much more qualified to have been entrusted with the revival fluid, are all stone statues. Mind you suika is just a little girl, too. So much pressure to put on her, but it shows you how much senku truly trusted her. More importantly, it shows you how science doesn’t just belong to geniuses, but to everyday normal people. Here’s someone with no scientific background or training that uses science to save her friends.
“I’m gonna keep trying” I am so proud of her for not getting discouraged and giving up, but fighting and clawing to overcome adversity and bring the group back. That hug at the end meant everything to me, first time she could talk to or hug someone in nearly a decade. I couldn’t imagine.
